Watch out, Bigfoot is on the loose! Despite many months of poor progress on various climbs, the crew witnessed the sasquatch clean Anonymous (14). Gone was the the hesitation, the usual long pause, the step up step down deja vu maneuver, and any sign an epic was in the making. Something had snapped within his mind, he was climbing confidently, trusting the holds, weighting his feet, bridging and jamming his way up the route. Bigfoot cleaned Anonymous twice, the second time was done at incredible speed. The Grasshopper was climbing beside him on Brisbane Bitter (24) and Bigfoot was almost matching his rate of ascent. The crew was encouraging Bigfoot on and cheered loudly when Bigfoot finally reached the anchors!
Asked what had changed, Bigfoot replied that his mind was in a far better state after going to Uni as opposed to after work. He was more relaxed. A good example of one of the wise truths of The Grasshopper, "a clear mind cleans climbs better".
Meanwhile, the opposite was true for The Duke and Irish. Both made a dogs breakfast of Brisbane Bitter, literally. Despite reaching the top and expending a lot of energy, they both dogged their way up on their first attempts. The next time The Duke went up, the Grasshopper made sure no dogging was allowed. As the belayer, he gave enough slack so the climbers weight could not be transferred to the rope (belayer). The Duke climbed much better in this instance. He worked the Gangbang Wall to BB traverse before blowing his arms on BB proper (the layback maneuver). Irish relegated himself to Anonymous where he climbed twice, both cleanly. The first climb followed the hard route and the second following the route proper. Well done.
